The Moon
From Touchstone TarotTM by Kat Black

The Moon

Meanings

Nature’s cycles always turn. That which is hidden will become revealed. Seek the subtle wisdom that hides from the harsh light of day. Emotions, intuition and dreams.

Reversed (?)

Intuition ignored, dreams dismissed. Your subconscious may be trying to tell you something – and it’s time to listen. Secrets may soon be exposed.

Description

A young girl in a white and gold robe stands beside a wild sea, holding a crab. She is flanked by two pillars, one male and one female. A huge full moon hangs in the sky behind her.

She's now holding something in her hands, can't make it out. The crab and other thing at the bottom of the card is gone.

She's holding it, i mean the crab... Hauntingly gorgeous card. Stunning colors, melancholy from the grey and the young beautiful face. This lady was a cancer, she is so much THE MOON!

I love the quicksivery feeling that I get when looking at this card. Like shadows on a moonlit night. I think is represents secrets, because we can never see the "back of the moon"...scientifically, the revolution or the orbit around the earth in so synchronized with the rotation of the moon her axis, that only one side ever faces earth. And what we do see if only because of refected light from the sun.

I also love that she's holding the crab--that uncomfortable, unfamiliar part of our soul that we continually ignore or push into the dark corners--yet we need to hold it and examine it and understand it in order to achieve wholeness. Gorgeous card.

I never understood why the moon is so unrealistically large. This is the only card in the entire deck that I would like to change.
